The Fujifilm X100 Series Cameras are now a Bargain!

[Update Sept. 2018: Changes were made to reflect the fact that the next generation Fujifilm X100F, with a 24 MP sensor, has now been released.  The prices in this article have only gone even lower, but the cameras are still excellent!]

The Fujifilm X100 series are fantastic cameras that harken back to rangefinder film cameras of the type favored by street photographers. They have few bells and whistles, but focuss on simple operation (including real knobs!) and image quality. But new ones are also pricey. Fortunately, the new model makes the older X100, X100S and X100T models available at bargain prices: with a little searching, you can get them used for around $400 for the oldest, compared to the newer X100F for about $1,200. There is also a model in between, the X100S.

Of course, the newer models have more features, and more MPs, but the X100 has plenty of both for most normal uses. The X100 has 12 MP, compared to 16 MP for the X100S and X100T. I've been using my 10 MP Nikon D200 (from 2006) for years, and 'too few pixels' has never been a problem. My opinion is that cameras are getting too many unnecessary pixels that do nothing but fill up hard drives. If you look at your photos on a computer, you probably don't need more than 6 or 8 MP. Wonderful photos don't depend on your megapixel count:
